Red Mill Bridge Dedicated

On Tuesday, January 17, 2017 a ribbon was cut to celebrate the completion of the new bridge at the site where legislators, Governor Robert Bentley and others gathered for a groundbreaking ceremony almost two years prior.

Bonds issued through the Alabama Transportation Rehabilitation and Improvement Program (ATRIP).  The new bridge is expected to provide an economic boost for the county by opening up part of the county for commercial traffic. Before the completion of the new bridge, poultry trucks, farm producers and other vehicles had to travel out of their way to get to certain parts of the county.

Safety, however has been the main concern for many, many years.  The previous double bridges have been the site of numerous accidents and several fatal car crashes.

Alabama Department of Transportation Director John Cooper, Congressman Robert Aderholt along with local officials and members of the community attended.
