Certain Gifts Allowed Under Ethics Law

In response to a set of questions posed by the Alabama Association of School Boards, the Ethics Commission makes no distinction in its Opinion between elected officials, legislators, teachers or public employees, saying that gifts of de minimus value are allowed under the law.

The legal definition of de minimus:  adjective;  inconsequential, insignificant, meager, moderate, modest, negligible, of minor imporrance, of no account, paltry, petty, obscure, scanty, ...
