Representative Kitchens awards Space Camp Scholarships

Representative Wes Kitchens recently presented two local students with Space Adademy for Leading Students of Alabama (S.A.L.S.A.) Scholarship Awards to Space Camp at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville for this summer.  S.A.L.S.A. is a scholarship program funded by the Alabama legislature.  Two Alabama middle school students, ages 12-14, from each legislative district are selected through an application process to attend Space Academy in Huntsville.  During their weeklong experience, students participate as a team to problem solve using STEM concepts, participate in astronaut training, and embark on simulated space missions.
Representative Kitchens recognized Emilee Shelton and Lawson King, both of Arab Junior High School, with scholarships for 2019 representing House District 27.
“Congratulations to Emilee and Lawson on being selected!  This is a great opportunity for them and I look forward to hearing about their experience.”  - Representative Wes Kitchens
